Pinterest group boards can be very beneficial for bloggers. When you join a group board, the people who follow the owner of the board or that specific board will now (potentially) see any pins you post to that board. More exposure is always a good thing!
I am always surprised when I see group boards that are only getting a few repins per pin or none at all. Especially when there are tons of contributors to the board.
They way Pinterest is currently working, pins are more likely to show up in the smart feed if they are being repinned. If a board has pins on it that have a high repin number, not only will that pin do well but so will other pins on the board.
The more successful other pins are on the group board, the more successful your pins on that board will be.
This is why it is crucial for you to repin pins on the group boards you contribute to. Don’t just pin and run. Make it part of your pinning strategy to regularly check in on the group boards you contribute to and repin others’ content.
I don’t repin every pin that is posted to the group boards I contribute to. Some of the pins just aren’t up to par with the quality I want to be pinning. Others are pins that I’ve already pinned from elsewhere and I don’t want to pin again. I just try to repin as often as I can. Please don’t feel like you have to repin everything that comes up on the board, but do try to repin the pins that work for you.
Group boards already have content that is applicable to your blog.
One of the perks of repinning content from the group boards is that you don’t have to go searching for content that relates to your blog. You joined the group board because it related to your blog posts, which means that most of the pins should be easy to incorporate into your Pinterest strategy. It’s not always easy to find quality content to pin to your other boards and repinning from the group boards you contribute to can help alleviate the pressures of finding content to pin.
Go repin from the group boards you contribute to.
Group boards are just that, a group effort. Adjust your Pinterest strategy today and help improve the success of the group boards you contribute to by repinning!

Using other people’s pins for your own blog posts is not polite, and frequently not legal. If you want to use someones images inside your post, makes sure to email and get permission first. Thanks for this and yes it makes sense and thought the same when I saw some groups that had little to no repins and figure it might had just been the pins I stumbled upon. But like you said it’s a group effort and I guess every blogger in that group should want the same thing.

I totally agree – I’ve made a conscious effort to pin from group boards first before searching for other pins to repin. The perks of group boards are the support and repins they offer – no one wants to be the inactive person on a group board… I’ve left group boards with bad repin rates because they aren’t worth the time and effort.
That’s such a good practice Krystal! I also leave group boards when they don’t get repins for the same reason – not worth my effort.

Hi Jen! My best performing boards are ones that have at least on “Power Pin” on them. The more we pin each other’s stuff on group boards, the more likely our is to get repins! Hopefully this is the case for you.

I never really gave much thought to pinning group boards but I frequently repin for others if I like the pin and/or the post. I live by the 80-20 rule. Your pinterest should only be about 20% your stuff.

I think most people haven’t thought about group boards this way – which is why I wrote the post. But, if you really want your pins to do well on group boards – this is one of the best ways everyone can help them be successful!
