Big news: pinterest messages

Pinterest made a big announcement this week: you can now send messages on Pinterest! Check it out:
Pinterst announces messages

What can you do with Pinterest messages?

According to Pinterest, here are a few of the things you can use Pinterest messages for.

  • Reach out to people who share your interests
  • Plan a project with friends
  • Share discoveries with people who’d appreciate them the most

Planning and sharing just go easier! Previously, when I wanted a friend to check out a Pin, I would tag them in a comment:

Now with Pinterest messages, I can have more personal conversations… and secret if I want!

Don't spam pinterest messagesDon’t abuse the Pinterest messages.

I’m just going to say it. One of my biggest Twitter pet peeves is personal messages. The only time I get a personal message on Twitter, it says something like, “Thanks for following me on Twitter! Would you please follow me on Facebook? And check out my blog!” Blah. Spammy. I’m excited about Pinterest messages, but let’s all promise not to get all spammy with it, okay? If you are going to send a Pin message, make in genuine! There. I’m done with my rant and plead.

Overall, I am really excited about Pinterest messages! I know I will be using them in my personal life, but it will be interesting to see how the evolve for bloggers. How do you plan on using Pinterest messages for your blog? I’d love to hear!

wow pretty cool! Yes I hope people don’t abuse it. I will give it a try. I been playing a lot on pinterest planning my wedding right now. Blogging about it on my other blog http://www.staciakennedy.com. Glad I found a fellow local blogger.

Some guy followed me on Twitter. I followed him back (’cause I’m nice like that). The next day I got a DM that said, “How was your day?”

That was it. Um… my day was none of your business, that’s how my day was.

So I un-followed that guy because who wants to be following the creepy DM guy?

Here’s hoping Pinterest can keep it classy. And maybe people will figure out how to stop overusing Google+ shares that jam up my gmail. We can hope!

I was so thrilled when I heard this announcement! This will do wonders for adding people to my group boards! I have to remember to change the “instructions” on my group boards to include that.

I love Pinterest… they just keep on getting better.

I hear you on making sure to keep messages sincere. I can’t stand the spammy messages either. Especially the “thanks for the follow… make sure to follow me here too…” Ugh.

    Great post! Thanks for sharing.
    xoxo
