Start a blog after High School graduation and blog your way through college.

June 13, 2014

My baby brother graduates from High School today. I can’t believe it. He’s always been my little buddy and now he’s graduating and heading out into the real world. I’m proud of him though. He’s been a great student (4.0) and will graduate in the top 5% of his class.

One of his High School achievements was a blog he started. He organized a Newspaper Club for his school and instead of setting up a printed newspaper, they started a self-hosted WordPress blog: The Titan Tribune.

Stephen has always had a knack for writing and I can see more blogs in his future. 🙂 Or maybe I’ll hire him to help me around this blog.

High School Graduation

(Do you love his graduation announcement? I do. I might be biased, because I designed it. I think the cute kindergarten picture will get him more Graduation gifts.)

I actually think it is a great idea for high school graduates to start a blog. Blog your way through college! You could start a lifestyle blog and share your college adventures. You could create a study guide blog and share notes, tips, and thoughts on the topic you are studying. Although he wasn’t in college, that’s how Pat Flynn got his big start. Really, there are so many possibilities for High School graduates.

Up and Coming Bloggers

Days of Chandler

I have a cute friend, Chandler, that recently started a fashion blog. She’s living in the town of my alma mater and I love seeing the college town in her backgrounds. Reminds me of my college days. As for her blog, I love how she networks with different photographers for her pictures. Networking is essential for blogging!

Gina-Alyse

Another college blog I stumbled across recently is Gina-Alyse. She blogs about college, design, faith, healthy living, and travel. She recently blogged about her lessons learned form a study abroad in Spain. How cool is that? One thing I like about her blog is her static navigation bar. It is always there for navigation through her blog.

Seeking Individuality

Jessica blog at Seeking Individuality, a lifestyle blog. She is a freshman studying Electrical Engineering. Devin studied engineering too! She blogs about life, DIY, blogging, and college. Jessica is great at asking questions at the end of her posts to encourage reader interaction!

Don’t you just love how fresh and trendy their blog design’s are? Move over long time bloggers, these young bloggers might just take over.

Blogging after High School could help you discover your interests, or maybe lead you to a career. You never know, you could end up making money while blogging and going to school at the same time! Not sure what type of blog? You can read our suggestions for choosing a blog topic.

Take college courses to improve your blogging skills.

While you’re blogging your way through college you might as well take a few courses to improve your blogging skills. I looked up college courses that would apply to blogging. The name of the course will vary from college to college, just head to the department and look for something similar.
