3 Fridge worthy new blogs!

August 29, 2014

Starting today, the last Friday of every month I am going to be showcasing new or improved blogs! I really enjoy watching people start and grow their blogs. If Blog Ambitions has helped you start, migrate, or improve your blog send me a link and I will feature it in one of the upcoming months!

Why am I featuring new blogs? You know when your kid brings home a cute drawing of the family and you’re so proud you hang it on the fridge for all to see. That’s what I’m doing.

3 new blogs that started the rigth wayAlso, I think it will be a great way for new bloggers to meet each other.

For everyone else, I want to show you examples of good blogging techniques. With each blog feature, I will talk about something the blog does really well. I love learning from other bloggers!

With out further ado, I present to you 3 new blogs:

The Peaceful Haven

The Peaceful Haven lifestyle blog

Janelle Esker, author of the book CHOSEN : One Family’s Journey with Autism, writes the blog The Peaceful Haven. She blogs about family, home, health, gluten-free recipes, parenting, autism, and much more. Janelle’s blog is the one actually on my fridge in the picture above. If you stumbled across Janelle’s blog, you would never have guessed it was a newer blog. That’s how well she did at setting it up!

From the start, Janelle had her gravatar set up so that when she leaves sweet comments on my blog (or any other blog), her pictures shows up. She also personalized her favicon! Janelle’s blog categories are set up for easy navigation and so that her readers knew what topics to expect on her blog,

The Peaceful Haven blog displays easy access to social media accounts, and has a newsletter subscription box in the right side bar.

Matthew L. Edde

Matthew L. Edde author blog

This site is an author blog for Matthew L. Edde, aspiring fiction author. His blog features short stories, chapters from the novel he is writing, The First Angel, and his own photography. Matthew’s about page is excellent. It clearly describes what his site is about and who he is and includes a picture. Here are my recommendations for setting up an about page if you need some help too!

Matthew’s blog also has great navigation and ways to connect socially. His social icons appear at the top in the left column as well as in the footer of his blog.

My Own Home Blog

My Own Home decor and DIY blog

Kristina is the author of the blog My Own Home blog; a blog dedicated to home, food, DIY and decor.

I love Kristina’s theme. It is a perfect theme for the focus of her blog. My favorite part? The newsletter subscription box! Kristina also has a great media kit/advertising section and policy/disclosure section. Her legal notices are perfect examples of how blogger should write them. They aren’t stuffy templates but her own wording on important topics. I really like how she phrased sharing content from her blog. It’s the last paragraph of this page, go read it. Re-writing my privacy policy is no on my to-do list! Wondering if you need a privacy policy for your blog?
